ABS-CBN has introduced its new digital terrestrial television (DTT) boxes that have internet access in Cebu and Davao. Branded as ABS-CBN TVPlus Internet, it is actually just the usual TVPlus box with an ABS-CBN prepaid broadband stick plugged into it, essentially turning it into a wireless access point.
Built-in functionality includes Facebook and Wikipedia apps, as well as iWant TV Express, a more basic version of the service. It also includes access to exclusive channels like CineMo, YeY, Knowledge Channel, DZMM TeleRadyo, and ABS-CBN S+A.
“Areas in Cebu and Davao have great potential, but these are areas where there are less choices for our Kapamilyas. It’s really from that standpoint that we want to try to fill in the gaps so they can also access more choices in terms of content and affordable internet connectivity through TVplus”, Chinky Alcedo, head of ABS-CBN DTT said.
ABS-CBN TVPlus Internet is now available for Php2,999 in Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, Mandaue City, and Davao City. Manila is expected to follow suit by next year.
As for data, users may avail of ABS-CBN mobile’s promos, which includes KSURF199 (2.5GB for 30 days), KSURF99 (1GB for 30 days), and KSURF30 (350MB for 7 days).
