Angkas unveils new app, promises faster booking time

Listen to article

Homegrown Filipino motorcycle taxi app Angkas is getting a major overhaul. They’ve recently unveiled a brand-new app, aptly named “Angkas Beta,” promising a significant upgrade in speed and features.

Angkas New App

The centerpiece of the upgrade is undoubtedly the speed boost. Angkas CEO George Royeca claims the beta app promises to secure a whopping 90% of bookings within minutes. This is achieved through a combination of “enhanced pairing” and “superior maps,” ensuring riders are efficiently matched with available riders.

Royeca also touts the new app’s multiple earnings enhancements, beneficial for their riders (such as auto accept, set destination, earnings goals). There’s also new sound design and autofill fields for saved locations — which isn’t necessarily new but it’s good to have rather than manually finding your saved locations.

There are a few caveats to be aware of. As a beta, the new Angkas app is currently limited to Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Manila. Users in other areas will still need to rely on the older app for now (currently named as “Angkas [Old]”). Additionally, e-wallet integration (like GCash or Maya) is a promised feature yet to be implemented in the beta.

Users can download the new Angkas app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
