If you haven’t used your Coins.ph account in 12 months, you will be charged a 15-peso inactivity fee on the last day of each subsequent month until your balance reaches zero.
In its Help Center article, Coins further elaborated that the standard or pro Coins account with no monetary transactions within the last 12 months will be considered inactive accounts.
Users, will simply have to make a transaction through Coins app such as cash in/out, buy load, pay bills and more.
Crypto won’t be affected as the inactivity fee only applies to Peso accounts.
This policy has been in effect since January 30 of this year, but it is quite common for e-wallets to impose such maintenance fees.
In fact, GCash has higher inactivity/dormancy fees than Coins does.
GCash has a similar policy of applying dormancy fee to accounts with even shorter period.
Those GCash Wallets that have not engaged in any monetary transaction for at least six months since the last transaction will be charged by Php50 dormancy fee.
Additionally, GCash Wallets that have a zero balance and have remained inactive for six (6) months will be automatically deactivated without any further notice.
Maya currently waives such fees “until further notice”. Although dormancy fees are mentioned on their support page, Maya appears to be the most lenient.
According to Maya’s table of fees and charges dated October 14, 2022, the dormancy fee—previously 1% of the balance with a maximum of Php30—is charged five years from last activity.
