Spotify ‘Music Pro’ with Hi-Fi, lossless audio to launch later this year

Listen to article

Spotify is finally eyeing to launch a new “Music Pro” subscription—offering Hi-Fi audio and lossless audio—later this year.

According to Bloomberg, this new tier will cost up to USD 5.99 per month in the USD and will come as add-on to current plans. The cost would be cheaper in developing markets, the source says.

Aside from better audio quality, Music Pro will also include song remixing tools powered by AI. This should be different than Spotify DJ that launched previously. Spotify is also exploring options for users to get concert perks including pre-sale tickets and premium seating through this tier.

Pricing and exact launch date remain to be seen as Spotify securing necessary rights from major music labels is still underway.

Currently, prices of Spotify Premium in the Philippines are as follows:

  • Mini: PHP 27 per week
  • Individual: PHP 149 per month
  • Family: PHP 239 per month
  • Duo: PHP 199 per month
  • Student: PHP 75 per month

Spotify’s work on this premium service has been years in the making, especially after its failed attempt to launch a “Hi-Fi” audio plan back in 2021.

In comparison, competitors like Apple Music and Amazon Music have been already offering high-quality streaming.
