As of December 2025, Google Photos has received a major video editing upgrade introducing ready-made templates, a redesigned editor with a universal timeline, improved music selection, and custom text overlays for Android. How can I search for specific text within my photos on Google Photos?

A feature rolling out as of June 2025 allows you to search for specific words found inside images. To use it, put your search term in quotation marks (e.g., "invoice") in the Google Photos search bar. This will show photos containing that exact word in the image, filename, caption, or camera model.

How does Google Photos indicate when an image has been edited with AI?

Starting in late October 2024, Google Photos displays an "AI Info" tab for images edited with generative AI tools like Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, or Zoom Enhance. You can view this by swiping up on an image to see the Details section.
