42 Million iPod owners worldwide

Engadget is doing a live blow-by-blow blogging from MacWorld 2006 and reports announcemnets by Steve Jobs left and right.

There’s actually more than 42 Million iPods sold all over the world. Last quarter alone (October – December 2005), they sold about 14 Million. That’s over 100 iPods every minute. They’re also sold 8 Million videos over at iTunes. And I used to ask, who will watch video on a 2.5-inch display screen?

Then there’s the new MacBook Pro. (see related post at PTB). I sure wish this MacBook is gonna push the iBook prices way down the $1k mark.

I’d personally go for the iPod alternatives if I’ll be after the best value for my money. Other brands/models offer the same features being offered by iPod + the support for other media codecs and a built-in radio tuner.

But then if I’d pick one for the design… I’d still pick iPod ;-)

Seeing the specs of the MacBook Pro, I don’t think it’s price would simply drop down, especially that it comes equipped with an ATI X1600 which is really expensive. Now that we got Mac for Intels… triple boot Windows, Linux, and Mac, anyone? Hehehe.

if you get an ipod, you will soon understand their tremendous success. it has changed my way of listening to music and also made me appreciate the world wide web of podcasting. it’s not cheap, but, in my humble view, you get good value for your money if you invest in an ipod.
