If you’re using FeedBurner to publicize your blog feeds, you may want to check out the PingShot which does the pinging of web-based feed reading services like Technorati, IceRocket or Feedster.
To activate this feature, login to your FeedBurner, then navigate to Publicize -> PingShot.
Technorati and My Yahoo are enabled by default and you can check the ones for PubSub, Ping-o-matic and Newsgator. An additional 5 more sites can be added and I’d suggest the ff: # Feedster, Icerocket, Weblogs.com, TailRank and Syndic8. (Once selected, don’t forget to click on the activate button below that.)
With that enabled, you can now remove the “ping urls” of Update Services in your WordPress options section. (Remember that for WP releases below 2.0, this built-in ping feature slows down your WP blog when posting new entries.)
