Another popular blog gets sold to big media. Last Friday, word went out that Rafat Ali’s paidContent.org blog (including mocoNews, contentSutra and paidContent:UK) was acquired by Guardian Media Group (GMG) for a reported $30 Million.
paidContent was among the group of blogs founded and authored by former journalist Rafat Ali under the ContentNext company. Ali used to be the managing editor of Silicon Alley Reporter (owned by Jason Calacanis) which was eventually sold to Dow Jones in 2003.
Rafat Ali founded paidContent.org in 2002. He won’t be retiring any soon — he will still run the blog independently of GMG. The blog is said to be earning about $1 annually from ads.
Earlier this year, another huge blog, Ars Technica, was also sold for an estimated $25 million. Big bloggers are cashing in on their exit strategy.

This is an inspiration for all bloggers out there
I’d pay $1 million for these 4 blogs, no more no less.
