Trillian out of Google’s Pack

{via Google Blogoscoped}

Trillian just left the house, or was kicked out. Google’s all-in-one installation package, Google Pack no longer includes IM client Trillian. In January 6, 2005, when the “Pack” was formally announced, Trillian was among the dozen or so free software that is being heavily promoted by Google.

The other day, the official blog of Trillian posted this message:

Trillian is no longer included in Google Pack. Our goals are seemingly no longer perfectly aligned* with those of Google. Their reasons for removing Trillian are their own and were not made available to us.

We harbor no ill-will towards them and wish them the best of luck; they’re going to need it.

There was no official statement from Google about this yet and no reason was given why they removed Trillian. However, this was 3 days after the Gtalkr developers closed shop and camped at the Googleplex.
