New Samsung Galaxy Note7 catches fire in an airplane

Looks like Samsung’s problems with their Galaxy Note7 is far from over as a replacement unit which is supposed to be safe, caught fire in an airplane.

In a report by The Verge, an American airline, Southwest Airlines flight 994, bound for Baltimore from Louisville, was evacuated while still at the gate because of a smoking Galaxy Note7. No injuries were reported.

Brian Green, owner of the Note7, told The Verge that he got his replacement phone from an AT&T store on September 21. The box has a black square symbol which indicates that its a replacement unit, while the phone itself had a green battery icon.

Green said that the phone had around 80% of the battery and powered it down as requested by the flight crew. He then put it in his pocket when it started smoking. Green dropped the phone on the floor where it burned through the plane’s carpet.
