OPPO teases ‘5x’ smartphone camera technology

OPPO will have a big day at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 next week as they are expected to unveil a flagship smartphone. But, prior to the launch, they tease us with a new technology in smartphone photography.

The Chinese company said it’s working with a new technology called 5x which will allow their smartphone cameras to capture images with exceptional clarity. With a tagline “So close you can feel it”, we can’t help but associate it as a zoom feature. Perhaps, it could be an improved implementation of digital zoom or even optical.

OPPO’s shift to smartphone prowess is not new. The brand is known to have beautification features on their selfie-centric phones like the F1s. They also partnered with Sony to co-develop the 1/2.8-inch IMX398 sensor for the R9s last year.

The MWC 2017 is scheduled to take place on February 27 in Barcelona, Spain. We’ll be there to cover the event.
