MS Surface RT now selling in VillMan for Php38k

Listen to article

For those wanting to get their hands on Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet, you can now purchase the Windows 8-powered device at VillMan for Php37,999.

The model on sale is a 64GB version that comes with a keyboard (we’re still awaiting confirmation if both Touch Covers and Type Covers are available) and pre-installed with Office Home and Student 2013 RT.

Like the Nexus 7 they have on sale before, these units are parallel imports or grey units which explains the steep price. (Microsoft Store is selling the 64GB Surface RT in the US for $699 which is approximately Php29K)

You can check VillMan’s sales page for the Microsoft Surface RT tablet here.

No thanks. Maxadong mahal para sa tablet. Kung 25K cguro madami bibili jan. Id go for Ultrabooks instead kung 38K. :)

Another s*cker and bloated product from Microsoft. They advertise it as 32GB pero yung user available lang is 16GB. Meaning, yung installation mismo ng OS is more than 10GB.

I got mine from US(asked my friend to buy for me) for $760 (32GB + touch cover) including tax from MS Store, NY. For all those saying it’s not worth, I don’t think so; build quality, speed, size, weight and most of all, file/media support. No complaint at all. I don’t need that “iSoftware” and sync my media files (pics/video/music) everytime I want to open it on USB external drives.

@wgd That’s right. The shipping and customs are the ones that makes the price go up. That’s the best we can do at the moment. It is a lot cheaper that what is currently offered though.

We also have the following

Microsoft Surface with Windows RT. 64GB with Black Touch Cover

Yup! Considering that it does not come with the touch cover… waiting for the prices to come down a bit, most likely when we have an authorized distributor here which will help regulate the SRP.

It’s a new product with high demand with limited supply, hence the high local price.

Surface RT is indeed a tablet with a “diluted” version of a full windows 8 OS. It’s a direct competitor of the iPad and Android Tablet.

No one expects iOS to behave just like a OSX, in a same way RT will not behave like a full Windows 8 PC (though the interface is pretty much the same, and may confuse people with the difference between the Pro version).

Surface Pro, on the other hand will be a complete PC experience which will most likely compete with ultrabooks, and will probably be priced competitively as well.

As much as I want to try out a windows surface device, RT isn’t a full “windows” experience yet, it’s a simple tablet for now :)

Excited to see windows surface pro devices XD
