Samsung outs 3 ATIV tablets, minus Exynos 5 Dual

The much awaited first batch of Windows 8 tablets from Samsung was also unveiled during their press conference yesterday, but surprisingly these slates weren’t sporting the company’s new Exynos 5 Dual processor that we recently featured.

These Windows 8 tablets, along with the ATIV S smartphone, belong to the ATIV series which, according to the South Korean spokesperson, is an anagram of VITA which means life. These slates are ATIV tab, ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro with the first one being a full-pledge 10.1” tablet while the two latter are 11.6” convertibles or PCs with detachable display and comes with a keyboard dock.

Running the show for the Samsung ATIV tab is dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 and is backed by a gigabyte of RAM. Its 10.1-inch HD S-AMOLED touchscreen display sports a 1366 x 768 resolution. The slate is capable of 3G/LTE connectivity and is equipped with an NFC chip. The ATIV tab is said to sport a pretty capable 8200mAh to accompany users for hours on end.

Although still considered as a tablet, the ATIV Smart PC and the Smart PC Pro are more of a PC than tablet in terms of the things under its hood. These two slates come with a keyboard dock, but unfortunately it doesn’t have a built-in battery which could’ve doubled the battery life of the device. Here’s a quick look at the two convertibles’ specs.
