Globe Telecom has finally confirmed that all iPhone 5 postpaid subscribers will get access to their LTE network at no additional charge. This means that if you are currently on a MySuperSurf data plan, you can get LTE for free.
In press release sent to us by Globe, they have finally lived up to their commitment of free unlimited LTE to their existing subscribers. They first announced this back in December.
The release indicated this development.
Globe subscribers on iPhone 5 postpaid plans can now experience fourth-generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) on their devices by updating to Apple’s latest software, the iOS6.1.
The availability is on the heels of Apple’s announcement that it has enabled the LTE functionality of the iPhone 5 in the Philippines.
With this development, Globe postpaid subscribers on iPhone 5 can enjoy blazing mobile internet speeds of up to 42 Mbps in LTE-covered areas without having to upgrade their plans or pay extra charges.
To enjoy LTE coverage on their iPhone 5, subscribers need to update to iOS 6.1 and use an LTE Nano-SIM.
Globe’s LTE network is heavily concentrated in Makati although it is now also available in select areas in Manila, Pasig City, Quezon City, Taguig City, Muntinlupa, Mandaluyong, Cebu City, and Boracay.
Meanwhile, Smart also sent a press release stating they will offer unlimited LTE to all data plan subscribers until April 30.
Went around makati to check LTE speed, I got 8Mbps DL speed as the highest in Valero/Paseo area pero average ng 6.5-Mbps. Sa may Kalayaan around 4Mbps.
Not all nano sims with LTE sticker are provisioned for LTE. Call Globe customer hotline or go to the nearest GBC to verify this :)
i have already upgraded my iP5 into iOS6.1 but sadly im here laguna wherein the it’s not yet LTE-covered. so, anyone wants to share how fast is the 4G LTE experience?
You can check Globe’s retweets of their subscribers. So far I’ve seen most of their screenshots of speed tests at around 26-28mbps.
sabi ko na nga ba eh!
PANALO talaga ang globe!
SMART sucks big time!
Magbasa kahit papa-ano bago magtanong.
-dapat OS ng mobile mo ready for LTE(updated like iOS6.1 ng apple)
basta 4G/LTE capable ang mobile mo ibig sabihin pde. as long as ung OS ng phone mo ready to LTE na siya like iOS6.1.
unlimited nga, may cap nmn.. ^^
How about 4g LTE for samsung galaxy note 2?
Hi! How do I know if my Globe nano sim is an LTE sim?
You will no its an LTE sim, when the sim card holder (the card the sim is attached to when you first get it from the carrier) has an LTE sticker on it. If I remember it right, for Globe, these are nano sims released on or after Dec. 14, 2012.

(Edit: Spelling fail FML)
requisites for lte:
1. lte capable handset
2. lte sim
3. lte-covered area
…and yes since globe’s lte nano sims are postpaid then capping does NOT apply
Thanks. Pero wala pa ata lte micro sim right? For ipad 4 ko sana. Listed nanaman ang Globe sa ipad lte.
LTE sim dapat.
please read the articlet/news once more :d
Thanks.
Can’t even receive a decent 3G signal from Globe, then they have the gall to advertise like this.
May cap daw sa My Super Plan Unlisurf combo. 800mb daily kahit 3G or LTE. I just asked a while ago sa CSR.
i’m a business flex 1800 postpaid subscriber at capped po sya upto 800 MB per day just like their dsl broadband upto 7GB per day. ask the CSR before you comment na wala… nabuko ko sila sa dsl broadband, when I reported that my 3Mbps plan always get an average speed of less than 1Mbps in speedtest(dot)net… they told me that I exceeded my fare use policy limit of 7GB when I did not use my internet for the whole day and it turned out that my account was sold to other subscriber near our area…. it was the technical support team who visited us reported that some agents do this…
Google Globe Fair Use Policy in postpaid and tattoo…
Bet the cap is some laughable amount, probably 500mb hahaha
heard it’s not unlimited… capped daw according to globe.
globe don’t cap internet for postpaid subscribers. unlimited is unlimited unlike smart. all the movies I downloaded using my phone as hotspot should be proof enough hehehe
iPhone 4s is not an LTE capable device.
hindi po kaya nga nano sim e. :D
If I download iOS6.1 in my Globe postpaid iPhone 4S, will it also be capable of LTE? If so, how will I have to pay for that service?
hindi po kaya nga nano sim e. :D
iphone lang ang my capability to have access sa LTE network (apple and other smartphones designed for LTE)
No bec the iPhone 4/4S does not have the hardware to support LTE.
Then make your LTE network available nationwide!
