SmartBro’s WiFly Promo with Airborne Access

My friend just handed out this pamphlet from Smart Bro announcing a new promo called WiFly. Basically, this is an add-on service to existing SmartBro (formerly Smart Wifi) customers to avail of unlimited AiborneAccess account for an additional Php99 a month.

Here are some details of the WiFly Promo:

  • The WiFly Promo will un from October 16, 2006 to January 15, 2007 with a 6-month coverage at an additional fee of Php99/month (VAT-inclusive) on top of their SmartBro subscription fee.
  • Only active SmartBro 999 subscribers can automatically apply for the promo. Existing Smart Wifi 988 and Smart Bro 788 can upgrade to Smart Bro Plan 999 to be eligible for the WiFly Promo.
  • Upgrades to Smart Bro Plan 999 will get a free one month WiFly to be effected on 6th month.
  • Lock-in period for the WiFly subscription is 6 months. You will still be billed if you pre-teminate. You also need to inform Smart Broadband Inc., if you want to terminate after the 6-month lock-in period.
  • Only one Smart Bro subscription per one WiFly account. No multiple logins will be allowed for the Airborne Access account.

Now, that’s a really cool deal there. For just Php99, you also get an unlimited Airborne Access account. Cool huh? At least if your Smart Bro account doesn’t wok, you could go out and hook up with one of them AA hotspots. *hehehe*

With so many Smart Wifi/Bro plans, I think this promo was done partly to standardize the subscription plans to Php999 and earn a few more bucks off of the subscribers.

Still, IMHO, the promo alone is a great deal (IF you have a laptop). How about Smart Bro subscribers sell these promo account to friends and colleagues for say Php1,000 for 6 months? Good deal and the customer also profits Php406 from it. *hehe*

yung quickfix nyo bulok! mantakin mo may signal man o wala tumitigil sa antaenna interrogation… pati kung ala talaga kayo signal sasabihin lihis yung path nung receiver o sira at kelangan tumawag ng technician… bakit di sabihin ala talaga kayo signal? bussseeet! kinabukasan my connection nanaman anu yun? tae!!

i applied for relocation for my smartbro (to another town) sometime jan 10 last year, smartbro technicians gave me the go signal to pack up my desktop 15th of same month… my 30ft sort of antaenna has been long waiting at my rooftop… would you believe i finally got the relocation last week of february?… and i was adviced to try to ask for discount to *1888??? shouldn’t it be automatically given? i was billed for the time my smartbro was idle due to the relocation process!

and….

smart should make the one month subscription free to atleast 3 months free (when renewing he smartbro contract) ‘coz thats is more likely the times i have bad connection or no connection at all!!!!

punyeta anong klaseng internet meron kayo maganda lang sa comercial pero super duper bagal ng speed nyo umaabot pa ng 1000plus hindi nyo ako masisisi kung d ako magbayad sa bill this month dahil hindi maganda ang serbisyo ninyo pwedebang pakiayos naman ang serbesyo ng smartbro.grav na pagtitiis ko sa puputol putol na internet.since putol putol ang inyternet ng samartbro paki putol nalang din yung line namin para d na ako magtiis sa punyetang internet ninyo.PUTULIN NYO NA TOOOOOOOOOOOOO

please alam ko meron tower ng smart dito malapit sa may MWSS balara water filtration compound near U.P. katipunan side, but then sobrang hirap kami kumuha ng signal using the smartbro wifi, bilib pa naman sana kami sa SMART!!!!?????

Please baka naman hindi naka activate yang tower niyo dito paki pacheck lang po. Sayang dami pa namang tao dito na wla talaga inet. and worse wala kami landline d2!!!

How can we say that, technology is at its best, when these things are happening to us here in balara water filtration compound!!!

Hope the concerned party in smart will do something!!!!

wifly! labo yan, connection na nga lang sa bahay, maha heart attack ka na e, one time tumawag ako sa tech support nila, grabeehhh.. inabot ng 1 hour bago sagutin yung call ko tapos nung sinagot, naputol pa! kung di ka ba naman mabadtrip, tumawag ako ulit, this time, sa new application ako nagpaconnect, ayos talaga, wala pang 1 minute sinagot agad call ko, SMART BRO! short for smartbrouhaha

I’ve read every comments on your service and I think isa rin ako sa naloko nyo dahil ganon din ang problema ko connection is always logged off. I’m from Italy pinakabitan ko yong anak ko para di kami magspend ng maraming pera sa tawag lalo palang lumala bayad sa smartbro pati sa tawag. di lang yon wise pa kayo dahil di pwedeng putulin hanggang di kayo nabubusog.Maawa naman kayo sa clients nyo mahirap kitain ang P1000.00 pesos, kaya kung di kami kuntento sa service nyo hayaan nalang nyo na humanap kami ng iba tutal bayad naman naming lahat yong senerbis nyo di ba?akoy pinoy,, pinoy ka rin ba?wawa naman kababayan natin.Pagsend pa lang you have to wait for one day.

hayz.. lahat ng na mention po d2.. un din lahat ng reklamo ko… mararamdaman mo lang ang bilis ng smartbro pag dating ng 3:am weee… I have a bayantel dsl too.. mabilis din sana ang bayantel but bulok din ang services pag nwawalan ng connection sa loob ng 1 week d pwedeng d mawalang ng connection ng 2 days awts dba.. pero pag may connection nmn sobrang bilis unlike smartbro kaya tlgang bulok din.. mabilis lang ang smartbro downloading ng mga nsa website like youtube.. etc.. pero pag dl ng files… sus.. mas3x faster pa ang bayantel.. lala lang share ko lang.. pero wag din kyo mag subs.. sa bayantel kasi mga bobo ang tech support nila.. suss.. ikaw pa ang magtuturo sa kanila.. proven!

share lang.. tlgang mas maganda po ang pldt dsl.

For those SmartBro user that is tight of budget and wants to have their connection be shared thru router, I do recommend TP Link TL-R460 – P1250 land sa PCeXpress…..easy as 1-2-3 installation.

Em using it right now, I dont see the difference of having split and single user on the connection.

natuwa ako dahil meron ng SMART BROADBAND…magkaka INTERNET na rin ako…

NABUWESIT ako ng MAKABITAN ng SMART BROADBAND…
nasabi lang na UNLIMITED ACCESS sa INTERNET…FALSE pala.

maganda lang ang ACCESS ko sa 3:30am to 5:00am..after dat PUTOL PUTOL na naman…means UNLIMITED sa 3:30am up to 5:00am… 1 1/2 hrs.. hehehehe

TAPOS non LIMITED na ACCESS mo…TAPOS meron pa sila AD sa T.V na ok sa ONLINE GAME… waaaaaaa…HINDI TOTOO yan…LAG at DISCONNECT lang ang mararanasan mo. BUTI pang pa CUT mo na lang CONNECTION mo.. Kung SMART BRO ang Gagamitin mo sa ONLINE GAME….

MATINDING KABWESITAN ANG DARANASIN MO PAG ONLINE GAME KA….

DI BA KAYO NAHIHIYA NYAN???? NAGBABAYAD ANG CLIENT NYO…PERO KULANG ANG SERVICE NYO…..

nandyan na yan eh… Tumawag ka naman sa Hot line nila ang isasagot Ping mo yong ganito…
pag me problema…ok imonitor mo na lang ng 24hrs…

then kinabukasan ganon parin ang problema… pag tumawag ka Ping uli…hehehehehehe.
then monitor mo uli 24hrs….

waaaaaaa…dapat pala magbigay kayo ng CD copy ng bawat sasabihin sa kleyente nyo…

sa awa naman ng diyos.. 7month ko na ginagamit ang Broadband 7month na rin sumasakit ang ulo ko sa connection..

sa online games naman… matagal na 10min…swerte na yon hahhh…. Disconnect kaagad…weeeeeee….
kaya ako sa labas nalaro ng online game…para makapag palevel ako…kasi pag Smart ang Gamit mo…Level Down ang mangyayari….Kasi lagi Disconnect…at LAG….

Salamat sa SMART BULOK BAND…
Sumakit ulo ko….
Kakasawa na sa Katatawag sa *1888

Hintayin ko na lang matapos 12month contract…

twice na ako tumawag sa customer service and they told me, they gonna call back. until now wala pa rin. ano yan (OPM) “oh promise me” ??? duh!! sbi pa: after 24 hours…. eh!!! 48 hours na kaya!!! sino ba ang head ng technical departmen?…. nakatulog yata???

dati mabilis ang connection ng smartwifi and that was way back april 2006 pero ngayon parati log putol putol ang connection every 5 to 10 min. why di derecho. ok na pagtiyagaan.
mostly all say mas mabilis ang sa kabila.
Pls. improve your service to consumers b-4 you lost them.

How come smart Bro connection here in Bulacan is so slow you can’t get stable connection. I think Smart should do something about this before all of its subscribers switch to Globe Broadbond.

why go for wifly if you could get globe’s hspda where you can connect to the internet anywhere as long as there is a 3g connection , which is like practically anywhere, though it will hurt your pockets for 2t a month =P

I have a comment particularly on smartbro connections, actually I have just subscribed last month. Your sales represented explained to me that this service is better that other ISP. So in our place I have no choice coz its the only ISP whom offered this kind of services.

My concern being your subscriber try to maintain and improve your service so as to benefit what we have paid from your ISP.

my speed here is so unstable, I cant even download pictures and graphics that much coz it will take me hours of waiting. Please improve your service, my speed during daytime is so slow, I can even go to sleep faster of waiting.

Urgent Complaint/Request re SmartBro/SmartWifi

Dear Sirs/Mesdames:

As a co-convenor of TXTPower, a consumer advocacy group formed in 2001, to safeguard and assert consumer rights and welfare vis-a-vis the telecommunications companies, we wish to inform the Commission of mounting complaints from subscribers of SmartBro, formerly known as
SmartWifi, the wireless broadband service of Smart Communications.

Since the start of commercial operations of SmartWifi and even after its subsequent repackaging as SmartBro, this service has generally been perceived by its customers as substandard, unreliable and untruthful in its marketing pitches.

Since April this year, when Smart Communications relaunched the service as SmartBro, problems of intermittent or dead connection, lack of automatic refunds for such occurrences, inadequate number and lack of knowhow of the Smart customer service personnel assigned to the service, and the refusal of Smart business center to accept complaints and service queries (except to accept service applications) have continued to rile SmartWifi/SmartBro subscribers.

A certain Mark Baul, who calls himself “a SmartWifi/SmartBro victim” has emailed the Commission as late as yesterday, as per a copy forwarded to us. His problem is the same as those of many others, as the Commission will know by visiting online forums where subscribers pour their anger and frustration over the service:

Some have even set up a website dedicated to chronicling the travails of being a SmartWifi/SmartBro victim: http://www.smartwifi.org.ph/

Due to the bad and unreliable service, many SmartWifi/SmartBro subscribers have naturally entertained suggestions of shifting to other broadband internet providers. However, they are prevented from doing so by contracts binding them to SmartWifi/SmartBro for one year.

Needless to say, these subscribers demand government action to protect their consumer rights and welfare. On their behalf, we in TXTPower ask the Commission to:

1.Order Smart Communications to immediately respond to all complaints regarding SmartWifi/SmartBro including that from Mr. Baul;

2.Conduct its own investigation and provide all fair and legal remedies to aggrieved subscribers including rebates, refunds and the rescinding of subscription contracts;

3.During the pendency of (1) and (2), to order Smart Communications to stop accepting new subscriptions to SmartWifi/SmartBro; and

4.Investigate similar complaints of subscribers of SkyDSL, BayantelDSL, PLDT myDSL, Globelines Broadband and other broadband internet services.

We would gladly extend all possible assistance to the Commission for the thorough investigation of this issue and towards the satisfaction of consumer rights and welfare of aggrieved subscribers.

Airborne Access coverage is limited only to the commercial areas where Cafe’s offer free wi-fi access. Not a good deal for me. I am fine with just the Smartbro.. >.
