Chrome trumps Firefox on Google Pack

Google Chrome recently got promoted to version 1.0 and dropping the beta label. At the same time, it also got another promotion on Google Pack, pushing back FireFox down as the default web browser.

The list on the new Google Pack has Chrome “checked” by default and FireFox “unchecked”, displacing the latter in just less than 3 months after it was first revealed {via}.

This isn’t surprising and I’ve sort of expected this to happen (though not this soon). We even saw how FireFox ran to Yahoo! for some help.

Google will not completely remove FireFox from Google Pack nor totally stop promoting the browser as there’s still money to be had between the browser toolbar and the default search. Google even used to pay $1 for every Firefox referrals installed. The Google-Mozilla partnership generates hundreds of millions of dollars in ad clicks annually.

  1. oh, i need to install the new version

  2. not that stable pa!

Firefox muna me. no very useful plug ins yet!

BTW Firefox 3.1 dami pa bugs.

  3. Better stick with a stable release of both browsers. :-)

  4. I think the next time we’ll be seeing Chrome in the news is that it’s been included on the preinstalled packages of OEM machines from Dell and the rest of the big names.

  5. Currently using chrome and loving it. I should install the updated version.

  6. still using firefox. nireview ko ung both browsers sa site ko, and i think ill go for firefox muna

  7. I still prefer Firefox. Chrome lacks vital features that I need, such as Print Preview.

  8. Nice info about Google Chrome but I still prefer Mozilla Firefox though…Firefox is much faster to load… ^_^

  9. Been an Opera user for years. Keeps getting better and better.
FF kept on crashing on me. I dont know why?
At this point in time Chrome doesnt suits me.
