0:00Oppo is dropping its new surprise this
0:02month of February. I was thinking maybe
0:04it’s their Valentine’s gift for its
0:06users, especially for singles like me.
0:09[laughter] Kidding aside, it’s the Reno
0:1115 series 5G. In this series, they are
0:13having the Pro, a base, and an F model.
0:17And in this video, we’ll be talking
0:18about our experience with the Oppo Reno
0:2015 F5 5G. I’m your host, Earl, and let’s
0:22dive right into it.
0:26[music]
0:30>> [music]
0:31>> Let’s start with the design. At first
0:32glance, the entire Reno 15 series all
0:35look alike. I mean, at least viewed from
0:37afar, you can’t really tell [music] the
0:39difference. They all resemble each
0:40other, which I think is nice. Why? They
0:43all look so premium and their [music]
0:45appearances speaks for themselves. Their
0:47looks are so clean and simple. The
0:49camera island design I’m not a big fan
0:51of, but I love how Oppo is giving this
0:53one a moment in [music] terms of its
0:54overall look. Our unit comes in twilight
0:56blue and it’s also available in Aurora
0:59blue and afterglow pink colorways.
1:00[music] The side frames feel very sturdy
1:02and it comes in a matte finish which I
1:05do like. As for its back panel, it’s in
1:06a matte finish too. And [music] although
1:08it may be made out of a glass-like
1:10material, it still looks and feels
1:12durable. Speaking of durability, the
1:13Reno 15 F5G has an IP rating of IP66,68
1:16[music]
1:17and 69, which provide protection against
1:20dust and water submersion. so clumsy
1:22people like me won’t have to worry about
1:24being prone to accidental spills and
1:25dips. Aside from having a strong IP
1:28rating, the phone also features the
1:29so-called splash touch technology, which
1:32makes sure that it’s still reliable and
1:33responsive even when the screen gets
1:35wet. The phone may have this durable and
1:37strong look, but it’s relatively slim,
1:39[music] light, and fits perfectly in my
1:41hand. It weighs 195 g, which is not a
1:44problem to carry [music] it around.
1:45However, I’m just worried about how
1:47scratch this one is, especially with its
1:49rear. Thankfully, the unit comes with a
1:51transparent jelly case, [music] which
1:52adds a layer of protection. It also help
1:54us to avoid everyday wear and tear as
1:56well. Its front display is made out of
1:58Corning Gorilla Glass, offering some
1:59level of scratch resistance. So, that’s
2:01another plus point for its durability.
2:03For buttons and ports, they are all in
2:04their usual placement. The left side is
2:06kept clean, while the other side has a
2:08volume and power button. Up top, you can
2:10see its microphone and the other stereo
2:11speaker at the small slit, while the
2:13bottom part has the [music] other
2:14speaker grill, type-C port, and the SIM
2:16tray slot. Design-wise, I must say this
2:19one seriously got me liking the unit.
2:21Moving on, if I were to yap on its
2:22display and my multimedia experience,
2:24there’s nothing much to say, but mostly
2:26compliments. The Oppo Reno 15F features
2:29a 6.57 in AMOLED [music]
2:31display with support for a smooth 120 Hz
2:33refresh rate. Fluidity is one of the
2:35things I would like to highlight on this
2:37one. Scrolling, gliding, and swiping
2:39feels great, especially if you’re the
2:40type of [music] person who reads
2:42articles and nobles on your phone. It
2:44has an adequate screen size and I like
2:46how thin the vessels are. Plus, it’s all
2:48uniform. Surfing the net and social
2:50media apps made it easier for me,
2:52especially when looking for my fashion
2:53info this [music] Paris fashion week.
2:55Watching reals and YouTube videos are
2:56also a nice experience. The vibrancy and
2:58colors are all well balanced, deeplex
3:00[music] were on point, and the details
3:01are crisp. I’ve been enjoying binge
3:03watching some series, and it’s really
3:05great. You never have to worry about its
3:06visibility as it peaks at 1400 nits of
3:09luminance. Moreover, the listening
3:10experience is another highlight here.
3:12[music] As I said earlier, visuals are
3:14great and I have nothing negative to say
3:16about it. And thanks [music] to its dual
3:17serial speakers, it made the experience
3:19more immersive and has a nice sound
3:21stage. With its 300% volume, the phone
3:23can get loud and still clear, although
3:25it does lack some [music] bass. It’s not
3:27that bad, and its loudness and more
3:29detailed sound are good compromises. By
3:31the [music] way, the earpiece doubles as
3:33the second loudspeaker above the selfie
3:34camera. For biometric [music] security,
3:36it handles both fingerprint and facial
3:38recognition, both of which register
3:40quickly. Facial recognition works
3:41nicely. No delays and lags when
3:43unlocking the phone even in a dark
3:45setting. It’s the same case for the
3:46underd display fingerprint sensor which
3:48we recommend to use over face unlock.
3:50Overall, the display and multimedia
3:52experience are really good and I had a
3:54great time with Arrio 15F. Now, let’s
3:57move over to camera specs. [music] As I
3:59said earlier, its camera module design
4:01is not my cup of tea. Yet, on paper, it
4:03still performs really well. Actually,
4:05the design is identical to the Pro
4:07version, adding a more premium look than
4:08the base model. [music] The Oppo Reno 15
4:11F5 5G carries the same lenses from its
4:13predecessor which are the 50 megapixel
4:15main shooter, 8 megapixel ultra wide and
4:17a 2 megapixel macro lens. What huge
4:19upgrade they did on this new model
4:20[music] is that they now have the selfie
4:22lens in 50 megapixel whereas the
4:24predecessor had a 32 megapixel lens. As
4:26for camera performance, dang, [music]
4:28this one is on fire. From its ultra wide
4:30lens to the main sensor, expect great
4:33[music] photographs from the Reno 15.
4:34The images have a good balance of colors
4:36and details, producing crisp, sharp, and
4:39vivid output from shooting at 0.6
4:40[music]
4:41to two times zoom. It’s reliable in
4:43capturing fleeting moments in IG-orthy
4:45shots. You can actually shoot up to 10
4:47time zoom, but the clarity won’t be as
4:48sharp as expected. Macrophotography is
4:51great as well. It captures the subject
4:53nicely, and image processing is quick.
4:55For the most part, I didn’t really tweak
4:57any camera setting while [music] taking
4:58images since the Reno 15F does a good
5:00job at automatically making balance
5:02adjustment. Night photography is
5:04surprisingly reliable as well. [music]
5:05However, in portrait mode, the phone
5:07tends to struggle focusing on the
5:09subject and turning on the LED flash is
5:11unfortunately unavailable. Weirdly
5:13enough, [music] using the standard photo
5:14mode, even when the night mode and LED
5:16flash are turned off, images come out
5:19decently. Then again, there’s this AI
5:20flash photography inside the photos app,
5:22which adds an artificial lighting to
5:24help achieve that studio level portrait
5:26quality. For selfies, this one is
5:28exceptional in this regard. With its
5:30newest 50 megapixel lens, the selfies I
5:32took were [music] all excellent. You can
5:33actually shoot at 0.6 to two time zoom
5:36at the front. So, taking group photos is
5:38relatively [music] easier without having
5:39to use the rear lenses. And even at low
5:41light scenarios, no need to turn on
5:43night mode and flash as it can process
5:45images nicely in such low lighting
5:47condition. For video recording, both the
5:49rear and front camera are capable of
5:50shooting up to 4K at 30 frames [music]
5:52per second. And take note, you can shoot
5:54at this resolution while flipping lenses
5:56from the rear or front or vice versa. It
5:58suits those who love making content
6:00[music] and doing daily vlogs. By
6:01default, the footage is decently stable
6:03thanks to OI support. And if you turn on
6:05ultra steady mode, it will be even more
6:07stabilized, but the resolution will be
6:08limited to 1080p at 30 frames per
6:10second. There are tons of AI tools that
6:12you can use in the photos app that are
6:14native in the system. All the image and
6:16video outputs are leaning towards warmer
6:18tones, and consistency in color tones
6:20are also good at this part, even when
6:22switching lenses.
6:25[music]
6:28Wow. Wow.
6:34Wow.
6:39[music]
6:51>> [music]
6:56>> peeps. Early Fig Tech. Right now, we’re
6:58using the Oppo Reno F5G and we’re
7:00utilizing the front-facing camera. It’s
7:02shooting at 4K 30 frames per second. So,
7:04here’s the sample video clip. Powering
7:07the Reno 15F is the Qualcomm Snapdragon
7:096 Gen1 paired with 8 gig of RAM and 256
7:12gig of storage. I know the chipset is a
7:15carryover from its predecessor, but the
7:17performance is still commendable.
7:19Overall, productivity is good and super
7:21smooth on the Reno 15F, and jumping from
7:23different Windows and apps is no hassle.
7:25Even when playing games while doing
7:27personal tasks, I’ve never experienced
7:28[music] any delays on the unit, at least
7:30in our experience. And what impresses me
7:32more during [music] my testing and
7:34gameplay on Genchin Impact, even when
7:36the graphics settings are set in high,
7:38the phone didn’t statter and the frame
7:39rates were consistent. It has its game
7:42booster [music] which makes the
7:43experience more enjoyable. So lighter
7:44games like Mobile Legends is just a
7:46breeze when playing on the Reno 15F. The
7:48benchmark results on this one got good
7:50numbers too. In Antutu version 10, it
7:52scored around 600K which is [music]
7:53decent already and is capable to run
7:55multiple tasks in Windows smoothly. If
7:57you’re wondering about all the benchmark
7:59results, we’ll flash it on your screen
8:00[music] now.
8:07>> [music]
8:12[music]
8:13>> Software-wise, the phone ships with
8:15Color OS 16 based on Android 16, which
8:17provides its users [music] with an
8:19efficient and optimized Android
8:20experience that matches the devices
8:22performance standard. Users [music] can
8:24change the system interface through
8:25various customization features, which
8:27combined with the systems smooth
8:29animation and polish transition effects.
8:31The phone enables users to perform
8:32[music] the daily tasks through its
8:34multitasking capabilities which include
8:36AI assistance and tools to work
8:37effectively on its big display. The
8:39device comes with bloatware here and
8:41there, but users can remove most of them
8:43and redesign its entire appearance.
8:45Color OS 16 on the Reno 15 F5G provides
8:47a stable operating system [music] which
8:49contains multiple essential functions
8:51that remain lightweight for user needs.
8:53It’s reliable, works smoothly, and can
8:55drive daily with your needs.
8:56Batterywise, we see a relatively nice
8:59upgrade here. From 6,000 mAh battery
9:01capacity on the Reno 15F, now it has a
9:04huge 7,000 m hour unit paired with 80 Ws
9:07of wired charging. Interestingly, in our
9:09PC Mark battery test, it pump out a
9:11result of 13 hours [music] and 58
9:12minutes, which is quite underwhelming
9:15for such a large battery capacity. To be
9:17honest with you, I’ve had the unit with
9:19me for a week and it took me about 2
9:21days to fully drain the Reno 15F [music]
9:235G. So, we had it tested as well with
9:26our standard video loop test and it got
9:27a [music] result of 25 hours and 10
9:29minutes, which is at least close to my
9:31real world view. Charging the unit fills
9:33the battery quickly and it almost fully
9:35charged within an hour. Additionally,
9:36the Reno 15F supports bypass charging,
9:39so when you’re in the zone playing
9:40games, you won’t have to worry about
9:42using it while charging. Connectivity
9:44wise, the Reno 15F covers all the
9:46essentials, including 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 5,
9:49and NFC. It also has this AI link Boost
9:523.0, O which OPPO claims to ensure the
9:54consistent network connectivity even in
9:56areas where signal reception is weak.
9:58Before wrapping things up, let’s talk
9:59about the price. The Oppo Reno 15 F5G
10:02has a starting price of 23,999
10:04pesos for the 8 gig plus [music] 128 gig
10:07variant. If you want to get a higher
10:08storage option is also available in 256
10:11[music] gig version for 25,999
10:14pesos and 28,999
10:17pesos for the 12 gig plus 256 gig model.
10:20Here’s our conclusion. The Oppo Reno 15
10:22F5G serves an excellent mid-range
10:24smartphone because of its complete range
10:26of essential features. The product
10:27delivers essential function through its
10:29stylish yet strong construction, its
10:31[music] efficient AMOLED screen, and its
10:33ability to perform well, while its
10:35cameras produce images that users can
10:37share on social media. The battery life
10:38demonstrates exceptional performance
10:40during actual usage, while the fast
10:42charging feature enables rapid device
10:43[music] fill up. The Reno 15 F5 5G
10:46improves user experience through several
10:47essential areas. Even though it may not
10:49bring any major upgrades [music] beyond
10:50its predecessor if you’re looking for a
10:52stylish, reliable daily driver under
10:5430,000 [music] pesos and got the
10:56previous 13F or older Reno F models,
10:59this one deserves a spot on your list.
11:01But for those who have the Reno 14F,
11:03this one is just an easy [music] skip
11:04for you. Now, if you find this video
