Apple macOS Big Sur now available for download

Apple’s latest software update for Mac, the macOS Big Sur, is now available for download.

The macOS Big Sur brings in a redesigned interface, new enhancements for key apps Safari, Messages, and Maps, as well as new privacy features.  This includes electric vehicle routing for Maps, optimized Search function and adding of inline replies, setting a photo, or an emoji for group conversations; and more customization features and Privacy Report for Safari.

The macOS Big Sur is also featured on Mac devices’ latest lineup equipped with the M1 chipset.

Later this year, the App Store for Mac will include a new section on each product page showing a developer-reported summary of an app’s privacy practices.

Mac devices compatible with the macOS Big Sur include:
• MacBook (2015 or newer)
• MacBook Air (2013 or newer)
• MacBook Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
• Mac mini (2014 or newer)
• iMac (2014 or newer)
• iMac Pro (2017 or newer)
• Mac Pro (2013 or newer)

The upgrade is now available at the Mac App Store.

It should have at least run OSX 10.9 or newer to upgrade the compatible devices, have 4GB of memory, and 35.5GB of available storage on macOS Sierra or newer. Users should also log in to Apple ID and make sure that they are connected to a stable internet connection.

They also have to back up their device first before upgrading to the macOS Big Sur. To know the procedures, visit the Apple website here.
