Drooling over some Canon Lenses

Canon Lenses For over a week now, I’ve been drooling over this lens that I’m dying to get. I’ve checked out the stocks over at the digital store in Park Square 1 as well as the Canon store (Digital Zone) in Mall of Asia and they’re really pretty expensive — almost as expensive as the Canon 350D itself.

Still I can resist to get my hands on this one — Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. I can’t really tell you how good this lens is but if I’d show you some of the sample pictures taken using this one, I’m sure you’d love to have one too if you’re carrying a dSLR.

Just take a look at these I found over at Amazon:

I’ll venture out into the woods (read: Hidalgo Street in Quiapo) tomorrow to take a final look. I’m going for a week-long vacation to Boracay next week with friends from Korea so I’m praying to have this lens in tow.

P.S.
The other one, which I can’t really afford but already in Markku’s crib, is a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens.

  1. Who knows? Maybe Markku will lend you his ;)

  2. even it’s expensive, it’s really worth it. :)

  3. I’m sorry if this reply seems out-of-topic, but I think Pinoy Top Blogs need a MORE EFFICIENT HELP section. I registered my blog for two days now and it’s still suspended. Please inform me of any violations my blog has. Thanks!

  4. Those are really spectacular shots!

Anybody selling their 300D, 350D or 400D for a song (read very/dirt cheap that it will not dent a family man’s budget) ? Ever since the Digital Rebel came out, it has been on my wish list. It still is. Next time bloggers meet, I’ll borrow yours, or Karla’s or Jayvee, or Markku’s or anybody else’s.

Boracay? Does that mean you’ll be giving hour glasses with boracay sand in the Blog Parteeh?

  5. I wonder what Abe is going to shoot in Boracay…

  6. Why not go really, really wide for around $200 :) What do you expect from a Russian glass fan :D

  7. Haay.. If only my credit card will allow me to go over the limit, I should’ve bought lens as well when I got my eos. hehe.. that’s how credit cards help us a lot! :D

  8. My brother has the same lens in his bag. It’s a nice lens, but something that would probably stay in my bag most of the time. Now, a 24-70L or a 70-200L like Marrku has, that would be mounted on my camera almost permanently.

  9. Who knows? Maybe Markku will lend you his

Uy Gail, I’m not in the habit of lending my lenses. ;) Hehehe.

  10. A good lens helps but in the end it is the photographer who makes the difference.
    Enjoy Boracay!

  11. sa Hidalgo bala pangita lens kay mas barato na didto compare sa mall… ;)

  12. i agree with elber. your money is better spent on a 70-200 than this lens :) the 70-200 is more versatile imho. you can more or less achieve the same effect as those picture when you use the 18-55 kit lens. you just need to know how to angle the shot :)

  13. I got it for a bargain at Mayers kanina. More than twice the price kase yung 70-200mm but I’m preparing to get that one din next.

  14. I think we forgot to tell you, medyo mahirap gamitin ang wide-angle lenses, especially when it comes to perspective and distortion and portraiture. ;) Hehehe. Pero sobrang saya nyan!

I might get that lens too, but I’m still thinking if going full-frame is the better option, along with the 17-40 f/4L.

    Magkano mo nabili?

  15. This is the 4th lens I bought already and I’m sure 1 or 2 more are lined up this year. Got it for Php30k at Hidalgo when they were selling it at Php36 sa Digital Zone.

Surely, that 70-200mm 2.8 is next in line. Dahan dahan lang. The ad revenue I got from the gallery should offset the cost of acquisition kase eh. :D *hehe*

  16. Hmm, your photos and iPAP is making you rich. You should donate another canon 10-22 to the iPAP foundation, also known as Markku’s camera bag. Hehehe.

  17. basta pag mag-uupgrade kayo sabihan nyo ako ;)

  18. Wait, 4th na yan Abe? You now have the 50mm and my 18-125, and now the 10-22. Ano yung isa pa?

  19. I have the kit lens, 18-55mm.

  20. hmmm.. why the 10-22 mm? You have a good set of lens already that is so versatile.. ;)
    Buy a flash unit :p
    Canon Speedlite 430 EX :D

  21. Yes Abe, before any lens, you need a separate flash! :)

  22. Ditto to Karla’s and Marrku’s comment on flash. I’m currently saving up for one.

  23. Get a flash! The 430EX is my next purchase – it’s amazing what good light can do for your pictures.

Another reason to get an external flash – you can’t use the onboard flash of the 350d with the 10-22 mounted. Otherwise, you get the shadow of the lens hood in your shot.

Get your 430EX soon – between 11k and 13k along Hidalgo.

  24. me too @ rain
i’m saving for a canon speedlite flash unit :D

  25. @Karla: Tara, sabay tayo bumili, baka may discount pag dalawa kukunin. Wehehehe.

Buti na lang I got a head start with my sold photo :p Hay, pero malaki pa rin idadagdag :(

  26. @elber
    talaga? between 11 and 13k? hmmm… pwede hehe :D
    san yung 11k nagbibenta? :D
