The latest AdMob report for August shows strong growth in mobile web traffic for the Philippines. This is partly pushed by the iPhone 3G. Our next poll asks how much people spend on mobile 3G every month.

Healthy competition drives prices down and at the end of the day, consumers win. So it’s not a surprise that Globe Telecom has dropped its Globe Visibility Mobile Prepaid kit down to just Php3,500.

One of the primary reasons why we don’t have a comprehensive 3G offering from the big telcos is because of the problem of 3G network congestion. It’s an undeniable truth that P2P is killing 3G in the Philippines.

Was talking with TJ Manotoc on the phone last week about the iPhone 3G plans with Globe. He asked me what dozens of others have been wondering all this time — why doesn’t Globe offer unlimited 3G plans (Visibility) with the iPhone?

This was just texted to me by a contact from Globe — that their Visibility plans are now available in prepaid — a move that directly competes with SmartBro Prepaid. This is on top of their postpaid GV 799 and GV 999 plans I reported earlier.

Bumped into someone from Globe this evening and she quickly tipped me about their new Globe Visibility plans - Plan 799, Plan 999, and Plan 1499. Still postpaid but they’ve made it more affordable, obviously following the move by the competition.
