Nokia Lumia 800 owners won’t be getting Windows Phone 8 but there’s still a reason to be happy as Microsoft has just rolled out the Windows Phone 7.8 update for their device.

The Windows Phone 7.8 update can be downloaded through the Zune desktop software, consisting of four separate sub-updates then finally settling on OS version 7.10.8858.136. Those who update can expect to receive new boot screens, an option to resize live tiles, bug fixes and improvements.

UPDATE:
Turns out that the early WP7.8 update released was a test version for pre-production models only. The official WP7.8 update rollout for the Nokia Lumia 800 will be in early 2013.
Went to the Nokia Store in SM Bacoor to check the Lumia 800 demo unit and saw that there was an update pending for the device. It could be the test version of the WP7.8 or just a minor update. Either way, the official update is still coming and we just have to wait a little more.
