Apple acquires wireless-charging manufacturer PowerbyProxi

Apple recently announced that they’ve purchased, for an undisclosed amount, New Zealand based company PowerbyProxi. The tech giant confirmed the acquisition to New Zealand website Stuff.

PowerbyProxi was founded back in 2007 by entrepreneur Fady Mishriki. The company manufactures various wireless technology products that cater not only to smartphones but to other devices as well. The company will still remain and operate in New Zealand but it is unclear if Apple will continue to allow them to sell their products. As for why they acquired the company, the only statement we have is from the tech giant’s senior vice president of hardware engineering Dan Riccio who said that “the team will be a great addition as Apple works to create a wireless future”.
