Back in late 2017, ASUS ROG announced the Strix Scar and Hero Edition laptops. These gaming machines sport different configurations depending on the gamer’s needs. Now, at Computex 2018 we get to meet their successors — the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II.
The last generation Scar and Hero laptops had different screen configurations to appeal to FPS/MOBA gamers (Scar) and MMORPG/RPG gamers (Hero). Looks like this time around, the new generation Scar II and Hero II will have almost the same specs and will only differ in internals rather than display setups.
Both Scar II and Hero II will be powered by a 15.6-inch 144hz, 3ms GTG response time IPS-level FHD display, Intel’s 8th Gen Core i7-8750H six-core processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB FireCuda SSHD, HyperStrike Pro technology keyboard, ROG RangeBoost technology, HyperCool Pro cooling system, and Windows 10 Home.

Now for the difference in specs. The Scar II is equipped with a more powerful Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 GPU and a larger 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The Hero II, on the other hand, has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU and a smaller 128GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD.
