Last month, we wrote a story outlining almost all of the ultrabooks that are available in the local market for 2012 (you can read about it here). We are sure more are coming before end of the year, especially that Windows 8 is set for public launch in October.
The number of ultrabooks since last year has grown significantly and it has reached the point that people can actually have a number of options when looking for their next laptop purchase.
We thought we’d ask people and start a poll — who makes the best ultrabooks?
â— Even before the term ultrabooks were coined and popularized by Intel, Samsung was already doing one with the Series 9. They’ve already expanded the line-up to the more affordable Series 5.
â— Acer was the first one to bring the first ultrabook to the country with the Aspire S3. They’ve followed it up with the Aspire S5 and then the newly announced Aspire S7.
â— Asus came in strong with the Zenbook line, both in the 11.6″ and 13.3″ form factor. They’re also the first one to offer a full HD 1080p display as well as a model with discrete graphics (Zenbook UX32VD).
â— Dell’s XPS 13 was very interesting with an edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass display.
â— HP’s Envy 14 Spectre placed a premium to the name ultrabook by being the only one sold for over Php100k.
â— Lenovo made a consistent move with the IdeaPad U-series bringing in the same old design in a solid body. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is something else though.
â— Sony shies away from using the term ultrabook since they boast their Vaio T uses all full-sized ports even with a really thin form factor.
â— Toshiba’s Portegé Z830 and Z930 probably took the crown as one of the thinnest ultrabooks.
There are several other players as well. Gigabyte recently launched their own ultrabook, Neo promises a really affordable one this month, and RedFox showed something interesting a couple of months ago.

HP and Asus for the win!
ASUS is a bit more expensive but definitely worth every centavo of hard earned money. I love my Zenbook now because it’s so light and it’s great for travelling. I’m not just into specs though I like the design as well.
ASUS ASUS ASUS ASUS ASUS ASUS
I love ASUS pang balibagan sa tibay hahahah! just like my netbook i drop it 3 times nothing happens though in fourth time, lcd broke ^_^ but i have an LCD monitor at home so still i can use it! well now i have a ASUS laptop still ASUS!
Dell’s XPS 13 and their other ultrabook offerings are good.
ASUS siyempre!
Di lang maganda ang Zenbook pero its the only Ultrabook with FULL HD / IPS Display!
Doon palang talbog na lahat ng ibang manufacturers.
Poll? Where’s the poll?
Just write a comment. Simple as that.
dell and sony
asus
I would say ASUS makes great Ultrabooks… but also they make expensive ultrabooks… less people can afford to buy them.
Acer makes more affordable ultrabooks that more people will actually buy.
i’d go with the dell xps 13 ultrabook… really nice edge to edge screen and nice build quality.
I vote for Asus!
Asus!
Dell!
Vizio Thin and Light! :) even though its not on the list.. Atleast it doesnt have bloatwares… :D
Dell is synonymous to lemons.
Sony is synonymous to nice designs but outrageously expensive PCs with same build quality as Neo.
Acer’s build quality is So-so.
Lenovo is boring.
Asus beats them good!
It’s ASUS all the way!
Asus.. Tested and proven!
It’s ASUS all the way! =)
