BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981 gets official!

RIM has partnered with Porsche to produce the limited-edition BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981, a stainless-steel Porsche-inspired handset running on the Bold 9900 specs.

The only difference would be the slightly smaller screen size. The rest are practically pulled from the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

BlackBerry P’9981 specs:
• 2.4″ capacitive touch screen display @ 640×480 pixels
• QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad
• 1.2 GHz processor
• 768 MB RAM
• 8GB on-board memory,
• microSD slot supporting up to 32GB
• NFC technology
• 5MP camera w/ 720p HD video recording
• Orientation Sensor (Accelerometer)
• Digital Compass (Magnetometer)
• Proximity Sensor
• GPS with aGPS support
• Dual-Band WiFi 802.11 b/g/n @ 2.4 GHz and 802.11 a/n @ 5GHz
• Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
• 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery
• BlackBerry 7 OS

Of course, the Porsche brand itself makes this a premium handset and will sell in excess of $2,000 or about Php87,000. Definitely screams “collector’s item”.

Any takers?

  1. Even if its branded Porsche, its not a car!
and with those specs, I don’t think it is worth its stratospheric price!

  2. I like to see the trademark of Porsche like the acer liquid ferrari did. But even though put the logo it’s useless. if I can ride on that phone, why not.

  3. Don’t like it. if it has twin engines and maybe a spoiler maybe i’ll buy it. but looking at it though, it looks ugly and not worth buying

  4. It is also wider than the BlackBerry Bold 990/9930. After watching a product video of this device, there’s something inside me that says, “Get one”

But with a price tag of 2,000 grand, they should have bump the specs like dual core, 8mp cameran longer battery life or at least put a bottle opener with it!

    • bottle opener, nice.lol. how about a swiss knife!

    • Agree!
Sana man lang kahit pano e may nadagdag sa specs

  5. wow with that price i can buy one Iphone 4s and a nokia N9. and this phone looks like crap.

  6. lol.. mas maganda pa ung blackberry 9670 yung clamshell… badtrip nga di na release dito, pang chicks yung design type ng gf ko

  7. I don’t like the design..and for the price, wow!!

  8. It looks cheap. And expensive for a phone that does not do basically anything. Just saying.

    • Ikaw na ‘te! Eh ano ‘to kung walang nagagawa? Just saying lang din. :D

  9. Obscenely priced, meant for Paris Hilton and the like… maybe thats why it is a “limited edition: for the limited market of the obscene:)

  10. the specs does not sound “porsche” for me.
just another luxury cr@p brought in town, meh.

  11. only those who have “limited” thinking will buy this limited edition phone. with that price, you can already buy a smartphone that does more than this and use the remaining money for anything else.

$2000 for a piece of bar that’s dumber than a smartphone? no, thank you.

it’s better to buy an iphone 4s or an android smartphone…it’s much more practical than buying this piece of luxurized crap.

  12. a scientific calculator inspired smartphone??? hell no to me!!!

  13. this is, by far, the silliest looking Blackberry phone that I have ever seen….
