Huawei’s gargantuan smartphone previewed

Just when we thought that smartphones can’t get any bigger, Huawei continued to blur the line between smartphones and tablets with the premature appearance of the rumored 6.1-inch smartphone called Ascend Mate.

AscendMate

An inch shy of the widely accepted 7-inch tablet, the Huawei Ascend Mate’s 6.1-inch screen is said to feature a 1080p display quality. Its innards are composed of the company’s very own 1.8GHz K3V3 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery, all encased inside a 9.9mm frame.

  1. That’s Hua-‘way’ too much for a phablet!

  2. Doesn’t seem like too much considering it has on-screen controls. It’s actually comparable with the Note 2.

    • note 3 is rumored to be 6.3inches.

  3. Who would want to use a phone as gigantic as that? That will be very hard to even put into your pocket.

  4. Guys!, i dont think is a phone. It’s a 3G tablet and just closer to “7

    • thats why its called a phablet.

  5. They kept saying that about the galaxy note, “who would want a phone like that?” and it sells like hotcakes. The primary feature of a touch screen phone is the screen and the bigger it is the better to a lot of people it is. Its big but still able to fit in a man’s pocket. By the way I’m using my galaxy note 2 to write this.

  6. I actually find the note 2 quite easy to use with one hand, can also touch all 4 corners with no sweat XD fits on my slim jeans pocket fine without being obvious :DDD am lookin forward to buying a 6in+ smartphone!!!

    …written using a note 2 :)))

  7. IMO, size’s like this is just way cumbersome to slap by your ear when making calls – it’s absurd. I certainly would not want to use it as a phone. As a tablet, the size is acceptable – although 7″ should be the minimum.

  8. Well while browsing the net i saw a site and that site is now carrying that Huawei Ascend Mate for P22900.00 .
