Canon yesterday announced a new dSLR camera in its Rebel series — the EOS 1000D. Its release was aimed to replace the old Canon EOS 400D XTi which first came out in August of 2006.
This entry-level dSLR will have some features stolen from the 450D and the 40D but will carry a pricetag in the vicinity of the old 400D.

Camera Specs:
10.1 MP
2.5″ LCD display
ISO 100 – 1600
3888 x 2592 pixels (max)
3.0 FPS
450 g
SD Card
Upgraded image processor from DiGIC II to DiGIC III
Live View shooting mode
Of course, it will come with the IS version of the kit lens. I’m curious why Canon has decided to do away with the Compact Flash card (CF Card) in favor of the SD card which they also did with the 450D. They also didn’t increase the LCD display to 3 inch which, IMO, makes a huge difference when checking up on shots.
Expect this model to carry a price tag between Php28,000 to Php33,000 when it reaches the local market (though Canon suggested AU$1,000 or Php 42,000).

Canon REBEL XS simply a beautiful experience
I spent several weeks reviewing the REBEL XS vs it’s many 10 MP adversaries, I even checked it against the ultra zooms as I wanted the convenience of video as well, but too many good things stood out with this camera and so I decided upon it.
